Let’s face it, no one likes being set up on a date. Blind dates are the worst and even if you’ve met the person once in passing it’s generally not the best when your friends try to set you up.
That’s why Tinder decided it’d be a good idea to play God, er… matchmaker. Seriously, they’re testing out a new ability that allows you to play Cupid. While vainly swiping through hoards of men and women you might find that you’ve been entrusted with the ability to share profiles. That’s right, not everyone has been given the power of matchmaker. If you do see the ‘share’ icon when swiping, you’ll have the power to “send a temporary link via text to a friend, and give them the ability to swipe on the profile you shared.”
After five clicks or 72 hours, whichever comes first, the link will expire like one of those Mission Impossible messages… without the explosion, that is. If you don’t want to put yourself on the sharable market then you can go into your Discovery Settings and opt out.
What’s more, you might just appear in someone’s recommendations if you swipe right on a profile that’s been shared with you. How romantic…
