Marrying your true love and giving birth are two of the most important days in a woman’s life. You normally don’t expect those two events to fall on the same day, though. One Texas couple held an impromptu wedding the same day they welcomed their new daughter into the world.
Stephanie Tallent was eight months pregnant when she had an ultrasound Friday at Texas Children’s Pavilion for Women in Houston. This one went a little differently, as she went into labor. Luckily, she and her fiance, Jason Nese, got their marriage license a day earlier and were able to improvise a wedding before the baby arrived.
Nese got the marriage license and a white sundress for Tallent from the car. Dr. Karla Wagner called the hospital chaplain, Reverend Johnna Faber, while hospital staff gathered roses to prepare for the ceremony. Wagner wheeled Tallent to her wedding, which took place in an assessment room while one nurse played The Wedding March on her cell phone.
Once the wedding came to an end, the day was not over for the newly married couple. Tallent was prepared for a Cesarean section. A few hours later, baby Sophia arrived, weighing six pounds, three ounces.
With a wedding and a new baby arriving on the same day, both bride and groom said it was the happiest day of their lives.
