We’ve got good news and bad news about Nintendo’s first ever mobile game, Super Mario Run. The good news is that it’ll be released on iOS on December 15. The bad news is that it won’t be free.
You’ll be able to try elements of its three game modes for free, but to unlock the full game you’ll have to pay £7.99/€9.99/$10. Considering how many shite games there are for iPhone that cost more, we have to say that 10 bones isn’t too bad — especially for a fully licensed Nintendo product.
The video above shows some of the gameplay from the three modes: World Tour, Toad Rally and Kingdom Builder. The real question we have to ask here, is will mobile users (who generally don’t spend on mobile games) actually pony up just because it’s Super Mario?
IGN are running a little poll to see if people will buy the unlocked game, and right now over 50% say that they won’t. That said, the poll doesn’t show how many people voted in it. Plenty of people have said that they’d go for it if the price was $5 instead, but we’ll see what happens when the app is officially released.
So, would you pay 10 bones to play some Mario on your phone, or will you just stick with your handheld Nintendo devices and emulators?
