Netflix and Marvel’s Daredevil venture has been a great success, and the Marvel cinematic universe as a whole generally does pretty well, so it’s no surprise that the streaming giant and comic book icons are looking to expand their partnership.
We already know they’re making a Punisher spinoff, but rumors are starting to circulate about Blade, Ghost Rider, and Moon Knight. Wesley Snipes says he’s game for a Blade 4, but nothing new about the potential project has surfaced. That leaves the door open for a Netflix series, especially if Marvel doesn’t run with the film script they reported to have done back in 2013 after the rights for the character reverted to them in 2011. A street level character with a dark history and penchant for violence would fit in perfectly with their Netflix universe, just don’t make it anything like that awful 2006 TV series that aired on SPIKE.
Moon Knight could be another solid addition to their roster, but he’s an unusual hero who would take some time to get used to. His story is too long and drawn out for film, so a seasonal format would work best. I mean, explaining how the son of a Rabbi went on to become a boxer, Marine, mercenary, get visited by the Egyptian moon god Khonshu and develops three alter egos isn’t something you can fit into a two hour film. What’s more, he was supposed to appear in the aforementioned Blade series that got canned, so the crossover would work pretty well.
Finally we have Ghost Rider. I’m not sure if you can call either of the films a success, mainly because of Nic Cage, but Netflix has done very well with dark heroes and Ghost Rider is about as dark as it gets without having to mention Spawn. Yeah, I went there.
Anyway, who would you want to see join the likes to Daredevil, the Punisher, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist and The Defenders?
