Comic book fans rejoice! Wade Wilson and Remy LeBeau, aka Deadpool and Gambit, are set to lock horns this summer in a new Marvel project.
Ben Acker and Ben Blacker (Thunderbolts) and Gwenpool artist Danilo Beyruth will write and illustrate the panels that depict Deadpool and Gambit’s joint efforts as conmen. Naturally, the two wind up working with each other “just long enough to stab each other in the back.” The miniseries explains that the two have known each other for quite some time, but other details about the series have been kept under lock and key. Oh, and She-Hulk artist Kevin Wada will provide the covers for each of the five issues.
This should do a decent job of giving fans something to nibble on until Channing Tatum’s Gambit movie comes out.
Meanwhile, a petition has been launched on Change.org to have a Deadpool statue erected in Regina, Saskatchewan. Just in case you didn’t know… Deadpool — the comic book character — is Canadian, Ryan Reynolds is Canadian, the movie was filmed in Canada aaaand it was produced by a Canadian.
“With Deadpool having announced that he’s from “Regina, Saskatchewan, the town that rhymes with fun!” in the new Marvel movie, Deadpool. It’s only right that we erect a Deadpool statue to show our pride of being a great superheroes hometown.”
Emersen Ziffle, the special effects artist on Canadian horror-comedy WolfCop 2, says he’s keen on creating the statue should the petition get to where it needs to be. So, go sign that petition (even if you’re not Canadian) ’cause the world needs this to happen.
