The video for Jess Glynne’s single “Don’t Be So Hard on Yourself” just dropped and it reminds you never to give up on your dreams. It follows a drummer who is coping with the loss of his father. The boy wants to include music in his life, just like his late father. However, his school’s drumline takes no interest in him, going as far as shutting the door so he can’t observe the rehearsals. Even though he isn’t welcome, he doesn’t let this deter him from achieving his dream, as he continues to perfect his craft. As he feels more confident in his abilities, he enters a rehearsal and shows the members what he can do, which leads to his inclusion in the group and the realization of his dream.
Glynne appears in the video a few times, but lets the focus remain on the drummer. She encourages listeners to not be hard on themselves. In life, everyone is bound to have a stumble or two and the important thing is how you recover from those difficulties. You can either throw in the towel and call it a day, or keep going toward your dream, and be glad when you accomplish that dream. Be inspired, and let nothing keep you from doing what you love.
