Facial Hair Contest Comes To Kansas State Fair

State fairs have plenty of competitions for people to enter and there are usually a few odd ones thrown into the mix. There are baking and eating contests for food lovers,  arts and crafts competitions for the creative types and kids have their own set of contests they can enter. The Kansas State Fair has a facial hair contest, where mustaches and beards will be judged. This isn’t exactly anything new, but these things are always good to check out.

The new contest took place today at the Nex-Tech Wireless Stage at Lake Talbott. The categories include best in show, natural mustache with no styling, freestyle mustache, partial beard, full beard over six inches and ladies’ fake facial hair, where participants can use whatever materials they want. There is a limit of ten competitors in each category. Contestants are encouraged to dress up with their facial hair and have 30 seconds on stage to strut their stuff.

The Wichita Beard and Mustache Club says it wanted more people to enter facial hair contests in the area. Now, the fair is helping the club meet that goal. Perhaps attendees of the contest will see some creative facial hair.
