Facebook Drops Bing To Debut New Search Tool

Reuters has reported that Facebook quietly removed Microsoft-owned Bing as its primary search engine from its Graph Search platform in favor of introducing their own search tool. Facebook is set to begin using their own search tool tomorrow. Originally, the social media giant used Bing to keep rivals Google away from the network, but now it seems as though Facebook is looking to strengthen their internal search tools so users can effectively ‘creep’ on their friends like an old-school sleuth. Recently Facebook has improved its trending news section and introduced a live feed akin to that of Twitter.

Zuckerberg has gone on to state that search is one of the most important parts of the site and that over one billion search requests are made each day.

There is more than a trillion posts, which some of the search engineers on the team like to remind me, is bigger than any web search corpus out there,
