In need of a new, theme-based restaurant to check out? Well, you should head over to Robin, Iowa, for some Big Lebowski-inspired grub.
The tiny town of Robins, with a population of just over 3,000, just got its first restaurant and it’s a sweet one. Back in 2012, the city put together a survey and worked with focus groups to find out what residents wanted most in terms of business development. Naturally, since they didn’t have ANY restaurants, they voiced their desire for a nonfranchise, sit-down place to chow down. The people got their wish four years later in the form of Lebowski’s Bar & Grill.
“It’s an important step for the city of Robins,” said Mayor Chuck Hinz. “I think it’s going to be very well received.”
Uh, yeah! No restaurants in a town isn’t exactly great for the mental health of the people, so it’s a no-brainer that it’ll be well received.
“My wife and I live in Robins. It’s a great community, and there was a void by not having a bar and grill or restaurant here,” said 47-year-old Shawn Bodensteiner, who owns the restaurant. Inside, you’ll find Big Lebowski references and decorations everywhere. Pictures of The Dude, Walter and even the famous rug adorn the walls of Lebowski’s Bar & Grill.
Bodensteiner said the restaurant serves “classic pub-style food with a twist and some additions. A lot of the menu are quirky burgers I’ve made before.” We’re gonna go out on a limb here and assume that they serve White Russians and never play music by The Eagles.
